Today in India..
The disappointing news are:
1. Sushil Kumar says he was excellent as Power minister. Now I can also gather up myself and say I am excellent as a Home Minister or anything that I may think of. Staying in Gurgaon has given me an edge over other people. I was not at all moved by this so called BLACK OUTs. Itsa norm in Gurgaon. People in Gurgaon stay for hours without power. For those who live in well-planned housing societies/apartment complexes, they have their own power back-up units which gives them a bloated sense of comfort and security in the present tense as they don't, truly, feel the heat (or cold in winters)! But the future tense scenario gives them a thing called a bill which shows the units of electricity consumed in those black out hours and they pay through their nose. I stay in a "power back-up-less" society and so I must fend for self. I have two inverters, with total capacity of 2350 capacity and No, I can't switch on the air conditioners duringthese black out hours. So, instaed of conditioning the air, I have conditioned myself to the environment. Good for me.Blow for Sushil comes in the very first day. Along with the promotion in terms of his portfolio, now he has got a whole lot of things to take into consideration as well. As a Power minister( now aren't all the ministers powerful in their own rights??) making a lapse here and there wouldn't cause that much of furore as it will be the case with his present portfolio. Don't we all remember how Shivraj Patil was bashed by the media for looking impeccable in fresh bandhgalas etc everytime he appeared in public and that too counting 3 times in matter of 7-8 hours. Sushilji, please keep handy a set of crumpled dress for yourself and contact Lady Gaga for her brand of perfume she has proposed to come out with which actually smells like that of sweat etc. You have long way to go. No home minister has ever got any accolades from the public, so you will not be an exception I believe.
2. Kiaran Stapleton, the murderer of Anuj Bidve, got 30 years of imprisonment on July 28 2012 for the crime he committed on 26th December 2011. That's just 7 months. Yes. 7 months. And as today's newspaper reads
i) "India may allow Pak to quiz 26/11 witnesses" for the barbaric terror attack in Mumbai in November 2008. Thank goodness, they have dropped the year recording in the beautifully coined "26/11". Satan only knows when the case will come to an end.
ii) "SC acquits 3 in 1999 BMW hit & run case" for the shocking accident which still commands attention in the front page of the newspaper. Ok, 1999 is the year in which the accident took place. Imagine!! My son, born in 2005, expressed his surprise few months back at the kind of years which starts with a "19". He thought that time 'started' from year 2000!
iii) "Ex-cop's plea to stay Uphaar trial rejected". Is it for true? This case still exists?? What have we
got to say about this? For all those who got a very painful, untimely and shocking death in year 1997 and leaving their families devastated, this should be another painful slap (too weak an expression?). Yeah, greed of a handful of people with money and power wiped out the family stucture of many leaving them wiping off their tears for the rest of their lives.
iv) The other BMW case that took place in Gurgaon, wiping out the life of Kshama Shetye and Sanjay Gulati has been deferred to November 8 as the chief judicial magistrate is on leave. Leave for so long Sir?? The boy driving the killer BMW, Suraj Sherawat, surrendered after 10 days of the incident and was out on bail in an hour. In this 10 day period , when the police was out in search of him and couldnt arrest him, he went on to sit for his First year college examinations. He doesnt have a driving license, nor has he produced it even after the court asked for it. 2 months are gone and still the state forensic laboratory is to come out with its report regarding the blood sample obtained from the BMW. How long do you think this case will go on? Like the 1999 BMW case- still in action!
3.The Geeta colony bridge in East Delhi awaits disaster. Why? Expansion joints are missing and there are 6 inch gaps warning us of a looming catastrophe. State PWD is clueless. Kyon bhai? Aren't you responsible for the roads? For the accounts, this is a Rs. 90 crore bridge.
4. So now we have official brothels! Excuse me, but I couldnt find a better word. Shelter homes and homes for mentally retarded are now doubling up as places to seek sexual pleasure from, without having to pay up. and mind i, these favour goes to the people who are running it or people who are close to them. These are the places where shelterless, poor and hapless people put up. The worst affected are women and children. Karnal has got one in Apna Ghar and Delhi has got its Asha Kiran. These cases are reported today and will be forgotten very soon. New such "homes" will come up to satisfy the urges of the monsters running them. These urges can be either sexual in nature or financial as well. Anyway, the administrators are the gainers.
Not all news is disappointing.
Take this.
One Hindu and a Muslim family in Ahmedabad comes together today, on the day of Rakshabandhan, not by an exchange of Rakhi, but by exchange of kidneys. This proves humanity comes above everything, even religion. Which forces me to quote Taslima Nasreen -"No child is born with a belief in religion. All children are godless. They get brainwashed with religion later". Somehting which we all know, but fear to admit. Just take a look at the "god" with no capital G. GREAT!
And some news look funny as well.
Sample this.
Two headlines side by side: "Mars mission may get govt nod today" and "Girls should skip parties:K'taka women's panel boss". My take: As soon as Govt gives a nod to this so called Mars mission, Please send C. Manjula there. She can give her idiotic opinions to the aliens or whoever is there.
And the confusing ones. I could never understand these economic policies.
"SBI cuts home, auto loan rates"- no matter what they cut, the fruits are never passed on to the existing borrowers.Once and for all I would think in my mind and this time think aloud, why wouldnt Mr Subba Rao come out in public and give it to the existing borrowers in plain English about this little twist in the rate cut? I am not a person from the field of economics and I would like to know how much is added to his coffers by denying the existing borrowers this rate cut?
More tomorrow..
